Lori L. Wheat
PT, DPT, OCSLori L. Wheat is a physical therapy graduate of Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC)-School of Allied Health Professionals in Shreveport, Louisiana and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Boston University in January, 2010. She has practiced physical therapy for over 20 years. Lori has been a Diplomat of the American Board of Certified Orthopedic Specialists (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties since 2001. She maintains active memberships in the American Physical Therapy Association, the Louisiana Physical Therapy Association, the American Diabetes Association, and she is actively pursuing her Pilates Certification through PHI (Powerhouse Institute) Pilates, a rehabilitation-based Pilates company. Lori specializes in lower extremity biomechanics, running/ankle-foot injuries, diabetic foot complications/wounds, postural pain syndromes including lower back pain, thoracic and cervical pain, bone-building strategies for Osteopenia/osteoporosis, and movement impairments of the shoulder girdle and other orthopedic impairments.
David W. Mooney
PT, DPT, OCSDavid Mooney graduated with his master’s in Physical Therapy from LSU-Health Sciences Center in 2001 and with his Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2008. He has been a Diplomat of the American Board of Certified Orthopedic Specialists through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties since 2004. David focuses on manual therapy, specializing in neck pain, cervicogenic headaches, lower back pain, lower extremity biomechanics and other orthopaedic impairments. David’s manual skills are exceptional according to his patients and our staff! We are proud to have David as part of our team at Wheat Physical Therapy!
PT, DPT, PCKaren is a 1989 graduate of the Physical Therapy program at Louisiana State University-Health Sciences Center, and she obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professionals in 2008. She is Board Certified as a Pediatric Clinical Specialist (PCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties since 1994. Karen is an expert in developmental screening and infant evaluation. She has worked at Willis Knighton Health System for 23 years and continues with developmental intervention in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), the neonatal multi-discipline follow up clinics and in the skilled pediatric outpatient clinic. Karen treats infants and young children with plagiocephaly, torticollis, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, abnormal gait, and clumsy child syndrome. Her assessments clarify whether or not an infant or child’s delay or disability exists. This is vitally important early on, when early intervention has excellent results. We are proud to have Karen as part of our team at Wheat Physical Therapy. She is certainly an asset to this community!
PT, DPT, OCSLauren Mitchell is a graduate of Northwestern State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and
Exercise Science. As a former member the NSU Lady Demon Tennis Team, Lauren has always been
involved with Athletics and healthy living. Being a former Athlete helped direct Lauren’s path into
Physical Therapy where she developed a passion to encourage and guide people to a life of Wellness.
After graduating from NSU, Lauren furthered her Education by attending Louisiana State University
Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC)-School of Allied Health Professionals in Shreveport. Upon completion,
in 2016, Lauren received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She maintains active memberships in the
American Physical Therapy Association as well as the Louisiana Physical Therapy Association. Lauren
enjoys helping her patients thrive in a Rehab setting and enjoys treating a variety of patients including
pediatrics, sports medicine, orthopedics, geriatrics, and vestibular. Lauren and her husband Josh are
proud to call Natchitoches their home. Wheat Physical Therapy is excited to have Lauren at our clinic
helping promote Wellness and Healthy Living.
PTADamion has been part of the Wheat Physical Therapy team since March 2017. He is a 2016 graduate of
the Physical Therapy Assistant program at Bossier Parish Community College. He has been involved
in sports medicine and physical fitness, health and wellness for most of his life. This Natchitoches native
grew up playing several different sports including college baseball. As the son of a PE teacher and
coach, he always had a healthy appreciation for the importance of pursuing lifetime fitness. Having
suffered his share of injuries and personally experiencing his own physical therapy journeys, his athletic
background allowed him to develop an intuitive understanding of body mechanics, a love for the
process of getting back in the game, and a desire to pursue a career helping others to do the same. He
remains very involved with coaching his two younger daughters in softball and enjoys working in the
outpatient clinical setting with a wide variety of clients. Damion has been married to his wife, Amelia for
23 years, and they have 4 daughters and a granddaughter.
